Dittiscombe Equestrian Centre offers fantastic tuition with one of our highly skilled instructors. No mater if you are 5 or 105 riding is fun and exhilarating and whats more it's excellent exercise. Here at Dittiscombe we offer private lessons talored to your individual skill level or group lessons where the group is all of a simular level.

Lessons are available for riders of 5 years + and can be taken on either your own horse / pony or on one of ours.

We pride oourselves on being a friendly progressive riding establishment where everyone can enjoy everything horsey.

About

Dittiscombe Equestrian Centre is situated 2 miles inland from the stunning historic Slapton Sands. Famous for it's role as a training site for the D Day landings where the tragic loss of life when several transport ships taking part in the exercise were torpedoed by German E boats.

Established in 1989 DEC is a family run buisness dedicated to all things horsey as one of the leading riding schools in the South Hams we take great pleasure in teaching people to ride and many of our students go on to compete. We ourselves compete at British Dressage, British Eventing and British Showjumping and are please to say we have had great success in the past and hope to in the future .

    Going on holiday? Why not let your horse or pony come to us and have a holiday of it's own. Here at DEC we offer short term full livery for your horse or pony while you enjoy a well earned break.

    Our experienced an knowledgable team will take great care of your friend and even exercise or school them if requested.

    Just don't blame us if they don't want to go home!

    Full Livery

    Here at DEC we realise that looking after a horse can be a full time commitment which with todays busy lives is sometimes very difficult to offer.

    DEC offers a full livery option for people who's busy lives mean they can not look after their friend quite as much as they would like.

    Full livery includes
    1. Use of facilities
    2. Feeding A.M. & P.M
    3. Daily Mucking out
    4. Hay, Feed and Bedding provided
    5. One layer rug change when required

    DIY Livery

    DEC offers DIY Livery for horse owners who would like to be hands on with their horse but are not lucky enough to own their own land and stables.

    DIY Livery includes:
    Use of school facilities when free
    Stable
    Turn Out (restrictions may apply in server weather)
    Tack room storage
    Hay and bedding storage

    It is expected that all care for your friend will be undertaken by yourself allthough turn out and bringing in facilities are available at a small charge per day..

    Riding School

    This really is what DEC is all about. DEC has been the formost riding school in the Kingsbridge/South Hams area since it was established in 1989. Boasting highly qualified, friendly teachers all of whom compete to a high standard, DEC offers riding lessons from beginer to competition standard. Riding our well mannered and impecably trained school horses or of course you may have lessons on your own horse. You may choose from individual lessons or group lessons and half hour or hour lessons.

    Beginners can expect to learn to ride in walk, trot and canter and maybe pop a small jump (don't worry we won't ask you to ride the Grand National on your first lesson!).

    For the more experienced rider lessons we can concentrate on technique ensuring you become the best rider you can be. DEC may also offer a small cross country course or show jumping course.

    Staff

    Alex Farleigh BHSA1 reg (Propieter / Head Instructor)

    Alex has been the Owner / proprietor of DEC since the early 90's when she established the school in the South Hams, a beautiful part of the Devon countryside..

    Alex previously competed at British Eventing but now regularly competes British Dressage at Prix St George level with her horse 'Arun-RA' and at Elementary / Medium level with 'Fifty Shades of Bay'.

    Alex still enjoys teaching all levels of rider and schooling horses.



    Emily Farleigh BHS II SC SE reg (Yard Manager / Senior Instructor)

    Emily is DEC's senior instructor teaching advanced riding and jumping classes. She also teaches many South west Riding clubs and private clients in her role as a freelance instructor.

    Emily is currently competing at British Eventing Novice/Intermediate level and competes at British Dressage, She has qualified for Novice regionals for 2016 and with her horse 'Casmire' will be riding in British Eventing Novice / Intermediate in 2016



    Ellen Tucker BHSA 1 (Instructor)

    Ellen is one of DEC's excellent instructors, Ellen always strives to make her lessons fun and informative using her own bubbly personality to bring the best out of her students who are regularly surprised at what they can achieve in their riding.

    Ellen competes with her own horse 'Prelude' at British Eventing and is having an excellent year.
